Cuarta parada : El Museo Británico






Como la lluvia era muy intensa decidimos pasar lo que quedaba de tarde en el Museo Británico.
La entrada al museo ( que por cierto es gratuita) ya es impresionante , recuerda a un enorme templo griego con sus columnas y sus frisos, pero más impresionante aún es la cantidad de obras maestra que se guardan en su interior.
Puedes viajar desde el antiguo Egipto a la Grecia clásica en pocos minutos.
Una de las zonas mas sorprendentes es la dedicada al mundo funerario egipcio con abundantísimas momias y sarcófagos , la gente pasea por allí como si nada cuando en realidad es bastante escalofriante pensar que te encuentras rodeado de decenas de cadáveres...
sin embargo lo que más me gustó fue la zona dedicada a la escultora griega me parecía imposible que hace más de 2.000 años se pudieran crear obras de esa perfección, a veces al pasar cerca de una y observar el delicado trabajo sobre mármol blanco parecía que iban a cobrar vida en cualquier momento.
Es difícil resumir toda la experiencia del museo en un post, ya que como se puede contar lo que se siente viendo lo frisos del Partenon , observando la Piedra Rosetta, las enormes esculturas egipcias, los bustos de Pericles... En fin que se trata de una visita ineludible; aunque recomiendo llevar dedicido de antemano lo que se quiere ver porque se necesita un día entero para recorrer con calma todas las galería, algo que pocas veces te puedes permitir en viajes de puente o fin de semana

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!! The British Museum!!!!!!! Y la entrada es gratuita!!!! A mí por entrar al Louvre me cobraron casi hasta la camisa, pero mereció la pena... Y El Prado cuesta seis euricos del ala ¬¬

Ufff, la colección egipcia del Museo Británico es de las más importantes del mundo (yo en el Louvre tuve dificultades para salir de la sala egpcia, en serio). Y tiene los frisos del Partenón (yo quiero, yo quiero!!!!)...

Vamos, yo le dedicaría más de un día al museo, pero es que yo adoro los museos ^______^

Y esas fotos que ilustran el blog las hiciste tú??? Te dejaron?? Porque en El Prado no te dejan, ni siquiera sin flash ¬¬

Tienes razón, el museo estaba muy bien. La parte egipcia era la más interesante. Y sí, todo lo que sea escultura griega, siempre es bello. ¡Qué buen gusto tenían!

Lo divertido del asunto es que los griegos pintaban sus estatuas muy a menudo, pero el croma con el tiempo siempre se perdía. Y tanto romanos como cualquiera que haya ido copiando las esculturas griegas, siempre lo ha hecho sin pintarlas. Una interpretación errónea de como eran. ¿Pero te las imaginas pintadas? Parecerían un poco horteras, ¿no?

Pues si las fotos son mías ,y es que puedes hacer todas las fotos que quieras con y sin flash .
Casi todo tiene unos cristales gordísimo que me imagino protegerán las momias y eso, las esculturas están "a pelo" e incluso algunas pueden tocarse, en realidad se pueden tocar todas porque están al alcance de la mano pero solo algunas lo tienen permitido para que gente con minusvalías visuales pueda apreciar ,por ejemplo, los jeroglíficos egipcios.
Me imagino que si hubiera cuadros tampoco permitirían fotos por que si que son delicados.

Sabía lo de las estatuas y que , pero no sólo las estatuas ,sino que también los templos como el Partenon estaban policromados ( y de colores bastante chillones parece ser, tipo las camisetas retro de los 80 que se llevan ahora)y la verdad es que no me hago a la idea , a mi que me gustan precisamente por parecer tan vivos sin ningún color... Si me imagino la estatua de la foto al estilo Alaska en La Movida ... Prefiero no pensarlo.

La primera vez que fui al British tuve una algo más que amable discusión con el guía sobre la conveniencia de tener media acrópolis en Londres, a lo que él me respondió que ellos cuidaban mejor de las obras de arte...
El British es el mejor ejemplo de expolio cultural en el Mundo... pero da gusto verlo.

Hace ya muchos años que fui al Museo Británico (yo tenía 14 años) y disfruté mucho. Nos dedicamos sólo (por falta de tiempo) a recorrer las salas dedicadas a Egipto. Nuestra intención era ver la máscara funeraria de Tutankamon, pero nos informaron que el año anterior había sido devuelta a El Cairo. Por poco...
Pero con o sin Tutankamon, el Museo Británico es fantástico.

Buaa que envidia!! a mi lo que mas me gusta de los museos son las zonas dedicadas a Egipto!. Como dice Leyd, es curioso que puedas hacer fotos dentro, en Madrid no te dejan ni estornudar cerca...

En eso tienes razón, entre lo que hay en el British y en Louvre poco debe quedar de Egipto y Grecia en sus respectivos países.
Una cosa es verdad , y es que en el british todo esta de cuidado que da gusto, no se ve una mota de polvo, pero bueno, cada país debería poder gestionar su patrimonio para bien o para mal.

Ayyyyy... tengo que apurarme en seguir el viaje... no me dejen sola!!!
Mi querido Triki, te envidio, te envidio!! Con lo que me gustan los Museos, sobre todo con temas históricos... Es increíble que hayas podido sacar fotos y con flash!!! En Japón no te dejan y tampoco me dejaron en El Prado.
